About Us
A practice built on patience and precision.
Thara Counsel was founded with one belief: that people facing pension uncertainty deserve a legal team that listens carefully before it acts.

How Thara Counsel came to be
Thara Counsel was established in Bangkok by a small group of legal professionals who had each spent years working within larger corporate law environments. Over time, they found themselves returning to the same kind of case: an individual — often an expatriate or a retiree — who had been trying, without much success, to understand or defend their pension position. The paperwork was heavy, the institutions were slow to respond, and the client was left feeling that the process was moving around them rather than with them.
The practice grew from a shared conviction that this did not need to be the experience. Pension matters are often intensely personal — they touch on security, on years of work, on plans for later life. The way legal support is delivered in this area should reflect that. It should be unhurried, transparent, and conducted entirely in the client's interest.
Since opening our office on Wireless Road in the Lumphini district of Bangkok, we have worked with clients from across Thailand and from abroad — expatriates managing entitlements from multiple jurisdictions, Thai nationals navigating the domestic pension system, and families handling matters on behalf of older relatives. The situations vary, but our approach does not.
Our mission is simple: to be the kind of legal counsel that you would recommend to someone you care about. That means being honest about what is possible, transparent about what things cost, and consistent in how we communicate. We do not chase volume; we focus on doing the work well.

Our Standards
How we hold ourselves to account
These are not aspirations — they are the specific commitments we make to everyone who works with us.
Membership of the Lawyers Council of Thailand
All counsel at Thara Counsel hold current membership of the Lawyers Council of Thailand and practise under its professional conduct rules.
Client confidentiality, always
Every matter is handled under strict legal privilege. Documents and personal information are stored securely and never shared beyond what the work requires.
Written engagement agreements
Before any work begins, you will receive a written engagement agreement that sets out what we will do, when, and for what fee. Nothing proceeds without your sign-off.
Regular progress updates
We commit to contacting you at agreed intervals — not only when something goes wrong. You should never need to chase us for news about your own matter.
Independent file reviews
Each file is reviewed internally before major steps are taken. A second set of eyes is part of our standard process, not an exception reserved for large matters.
Transparent fee structure
Our fees are stated clearly before engagement. If anything changes during a matter, we discuss it with you first. There are no invoice surprises.
Pension legal support in Bangkok — who we serve and how
Thailand's pension landscape is layered, involving the Government Pension Fund, the Social Security Fund, private occupational schemes, and foreign pension entitlements that intersect with Thai residency and tax arrangements. For many individuals — particularly those who have lived or worked across multiple countries — understanding what they are owed, and why, is not straightforward.
Thara Counsel works with clients who need an informed guide through this complexity. We are not a general practice that occasionally handles pension queries; our team concentrates on this area specifically, which means our understanding of the relevant frameworks, authorities, and procedures is current and detailed.
We are based in Lumphini, Bangkok, and serve clients both locally and remotely. Many of the people we work with are managing their matters from outside the city or from abroad — video consultations and email correspondence work well for the majority of what we do. Where in-person meetings are needed, our Wireless Road office is accessible and discreet.
Thara Counsel keeps its caseload deliberately manageable. We prefer to work with fewer clients and serve them well, rather than to take on high volumes and lose the attentiveness that pension matters require. If you are looking for a team that will take your situation seriously and keep you genuinely informed, we would be glad to have a first conversation.
